Explore Bribie’s Natural Beauty

With an abundance of native flora and fauna, the island is a nature lover’s paradise. There’s a diverse range of marine life, internationally renowned bird life, bush walks and spectacular scenery.
Pumicestone Passage provides a home for sea-turtles, dugongs and regularly-seen dolphins, and bird watching is very popular with over 300 bird species recorded. In fact the island is recognised as one of the most important bird habitats on the east coast of Australia. Don’t forget your binoculars!
Ferryman Cruises
To get even closer to the natural beauty of Bribie, take a day out on the water with Ferryman Cruises. This smooth water cruise will venture into the heart of the Pumicestone Passage which is rich in wildlife. With mangroves, salt marshes, sand flats, coastal dunes and seagrass meadows, there’s a very good chance that you will spot dugongs, dolphins, turtles and sea birds.

Bribie Island Butterfly House
The Bribie Island Butterfly House is a local volunteer project, and since June 2017 has been welcoming many happy visitors. It’s a beautiful experience and the friendly volunteers are on hand to share their wealth of knowledge.
No need to grab a butterfly net – you’ll see hundreds of beautiful live butterflies flying around you, all bred in the state-of-the art breeding laboratory on-site! It’s an unforgettable experience. Open on Wednesdays and Sundays only, 10am – 4pm. Admission is $12 adults, $10 concession.
Bribie Island Clubs & Entertainment
The Bribie Island region is home to many cafes and restaurants as well as a variety of clubs within a stone’s throw of your Bribie Island accommodation.
The Bribie RSL is located only minutes from the heart of Bongaree and offers two dining options – the Social Café and Botanic Dining, plus three bar areas. As well as hosting live music and a variety of special events, visitors are welcome to book the courtesy bus to pick up and drop off at your Bribie Island accommodation.
The Bribie Island Bowls Club overlooks the stunning Pumicestone Passage and boasts four outdoor greens and a large modern Clubhouse. The Club, one of the largest Bowls Clubs in Queensland, welcomes visitors to enjoy meal options at the bistro or coffee shop, a drink at the bar or deck with water view,sor pick up a little something for later at the bottle shop.
The Surf Club is located in Woorim, a 10 minute drive from Bongaree. Daily Specials and Seniors’ Specials are on offer, as are the amazing ocean views. The menu features an array of fresh and cooked seafood delivered daily, as well as a “char-grill” section together with salads, pasta dishes, lighter options and snacks.
The Bribie Island Seaside Museum
In the heart of Bongaree and close to your Bribie Island accommodation, the Seaside Museum is a must-see for visitors.
Run by Moreton Bay Regional Council. the purpose-built museum is contemporary in design and has views to the parkland and beach. The main reception has a wonderful shop which sells some interesting Bribie Island souvenirs.
Learn about Bribie Island’s rich military history during WWII and discover the birthplace of modern seaside tourism. Entry is free, and the museum is open Tues – Fri 10am – 4pm, Sat & Sun 10am – 3pm.
Sunset Waterfront Stroll
